Corona-Pandemie, Klimawandel, Terrorismus, Flüchtlings- und Wirtschaftskrise, Militäreinsätze in Afghanistan, der Ukraine und Mali, Abgasskandal etc. Die Liste der Risiken, Krisen und Konflikte ist lang, und die „Fälle“ sind zunehmend komplex. Wie steht es um die professionelle Kommunikation darüber? Ist sie hinreichend transparent und achtsam-kritisch, oder vielmehr interessengeleitet und oberflächlich? Interne Strukturen und Vorgaben sowie dynamische externe Rahmenbedingungen erschweren die Kommunikation. // The Corona pandemic, climate change, terrorism, refugee and economic crisis, military operations in Afghanistan, Ukraine and Mali, the exhaust emissions scandal, etc. The list of risks, crises and conflicts is long and become increasingly complex. What about the professional communication of this topics? Are we communicating sufficiently transparent and mindful-critical, or rather interest-driven and superficial? Internal structures and guidelines, as well as dynamic external conditions, make communication more difficult.

Es mangelt mitunter an Formaten, Möglichkeiten, Ressourcen, Mut oder auch Expertise und Können. Diejenigen, die bei Risiken und Krisen professionell Öffentlichkeit herstellen (müssen), kommunizieren möglicherweise nicht ausreichend (gut) miteinander und haben dabei die Optionen sozialer Medien und deren Akteure (noch) nicht regelmäßig im Blickfeld. Das vielschichtige Beziehungsgeflecht der Kommunikatoren bietet scheinbar mehr Irritations- als Synergiepotentiale. // Sometimes there is a lack of formats, opportunities, resources, courage or even expertise and skills. Those who (have to) produce professional publicity in the event of risks and crises may not communicate sufficiently (well) with one another and may not (yet) have the options of social media and their players regularly in their sights. The multilayered network of relationships among communicators seemingly offers more potential for irritation than for synergy.

Der Sammelband bündelt erstmalig in dieser Form interdisziplinäre Erfahrungswerte und Erkenntnisse von Akteuren aus Journalismus, Politik, Wissenschaft, Umwelt und Gesundheit. Dadurch werden Herausforderungen und Chancen medialer Vermittlung von Risiken und Krisen identifiziert und zugleich die Notwendigkeit und Ansatzpunkte für eine explizit auf dieses Thema ausgerichtete Ausbildung verdeutlicht. Die Herausgeber: Prof. Dr. Michael Beuthner lehrt Journalismus und PR an der Berlin School of Popular Arts der SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences. Prof. Dr. Udo Bomnüter lehrt Medienmanagement an der Hochschule Macromedia, University of Applied Sciencies in Berlin. Prof. John A. Kantara ist Wissenschaftsjournalist, Dokumentarfilmer und Director, Kantara Films & Documentaries.

// For the first time in this form, the anthology bundles interdisciplinary empirical values and insights of actors from journalism, politics, science, environment and health. Thus, challenges and chances of medial mediation of risks and crises are identified and at the same time the necessity and starting points for an explicitly on this topic oriented education are made clear.
